Editing Your Web Site
Windows XP Service
Pack 2 users
The
release of Windows XP Service Pack 2 introduces a more secure network
environment. Unfortunately, the ASUPS website is based on a network
language that, while contemporary, requires a less secure form of authentication
that is not supported by Windows XP Service Pack 2.
Therefore, the following
changes must be made in order for Win XP SP2 users to connect to their website
via WebDAV:
WARNING: If you use
Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may require you
to reinstall your operating system. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Option A:
-
Download
WindowsXPSP2_WebDAV_Fix.reg:
(WindowsXPSP2_WebDAV_Fix.reg).
- Double-click
the file, click Yes, click OK, and then restart the computer.
Option B:
- Click Start, and then click Run.
- In the Open box, type regedit, and then click OK.
- Locate and then click the
following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\WebClient\Parameters
- On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click
DWORD Value.
- Type UseBasicAuth, and then press ENTER.
- On the Edit menu, click Modify.
-
In the Value data box, type 1, and then click
OK.
- Quit Registry Editor, and then restart the
computer.
