Editing Your Web Site
Windows XP the traditional way

  • In Windows, navigate to the My Network Places by clicking the [My Network Places] icon on your desktop.  If you don't have a My Network Places icon on your desktop, rather click on the [My Computer] icon and you fill find it there.

  • Once in the Network Places, click the [Add a Network Place] link that you will find to the left under the heading "Network Tasks". The "Welcome to the Add Network Place Wizard" will start.  Click [Next].

  • Select "Choose Another Network Location" from the list.

  • Type in your website address in the following format:
    • Clubs: http://asups.ups.edu/clubs/clubname
    • Student Pages: http://asups.ups.edu/students/username
    • Greek Pages: http://asups.ups.edu/greek/housename
    • Theme House Pages: http://asups.ups.edu/themes/housename

  • You may be prompted to enter a username and password.  When prompted, log in using your PUGETSOUND username and password (username format is "username@ups.edu" or "username@ups.edu").

  • Enter a desired name for your website (this can be anything you like).

  • Click [Next] and then [Finished]

  • You will be returned to your My Network Places window.  Locate your website and double click on the link.

  • You will now see the contents of your website--in file format.  You can now drag and drop (upload and download) necessary files as if you were running an FTP client.

  • Once you have overwritten the necessary files, your website will be updated.

  • Open Internet Explorer (or another browser) and navigate to your website.  You will now see your updated content.

  • If you have problems connecting and are using Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2, look here for more information.

Please note that your homepage must be titled "default.htm" or "default.aspx" and not the more traditional "index.html" for it load automatically.
