about us
Conspiracy of Hope is centered not on numbers of participants or amount of money raised, but rather on the successful bridging within and between communities. The three main goals are:
- Help those less fortunate in our community through a unified and selfless effort by the students, staff, faculty, clubs, and organizations of the University of Puget Sound.
- Build strength and diversity in our campus community by working together, drawing on all parts and pieces of the Puget Sound campus, and by overcoming barriers and boundaries that normally separate us into distinct groups and cliques.
- Work not only in the city, but with the city, to better connect the communities of Tacoma and the University of Puget Sound.
Conspiracy of Hope (COH) is an organization committed to bringing issues of service and community to the University of Puget Sound's attention. Our main goal is to promote the campus community and the greater Tacoma area to work together to solve problems our society faces.
COH has no religious affiliation, nor any institutional association aside from the University itself. It is not one academic department, nor any particular student club or organization. Rather, it is truly a conspiracy, overcoming lines of distinction and drawing all members, parts, and pieces of the Puget Sound campus together into one overarching community.
COH was spearheaded in 2002 by three commissioners (Darrel Frost, Cleo Peterson, and Karli Winters, advised by Marta Palmquist Cady). This year, we have seven commissioners (Amelia Lamb, Charlotte Emigh, Leila Jones, Magan Do, Sara Saunders, and Tracey Straight), who strive to make Conspiracy of Hope an ongoing success. In collaboration with various clubs, organizations, departments, students, faculty, and Tacoma residents, we hope to build a true sense of community, on and off campus.
